In preparation of the upcoming UAConnect Email migration taking place on May 19-20, all new employee email accounts will be created in the UAConnect on-campus system rather than on the current UAConnect BPOS system starting Friday, May 4. Additionally, requests for UAConnect accounts for student workers and DSVs will also be fulfilled with accounts on the new system.

University faculty and staff will soon enjoy the flexibility and reliability of their email and calendaring system operating from servers located on campus and operated by the University.  At present, approximately two thirds of faculty and staff email is hosted on remote servers operated by Microsoft. This change affects central University email accounts only; departments with their own email systems are unaffected. Affected email account holders will receive emails next week notifying them of the upcoming move.

The World Care organization is looking a little cleaner and brighter now as it provides educational, health, and environmental relief to 65 countries worldwide—thanks to the 2012 Cats in the Community Day. University of Arizona volunteers showed up Saturday, March 3, to transform the building and grounds of the old Julia Keen Elementary School, which now serves as the organization's headquarters.

The Office of the Vice President for Research and the Office of the CIO are pleased to announce the Open House and Ribbon Cutting for the University of Arizona's new Research Data Facility in the Computer Center.

The Open House is Monday, February 27, 2012, from 4:30 to 5:30 at the new facility, which is on the first floor of the Computer Center, 1077 N. Highland Ave. The ribbon-cutting will take place at 5:00 p.m.

UAConnect, UA’s central email and calendaring system for faculty and staff, currently utilizes Microsoft’s cloud software. This service has been in place for over a year and about two-thirds of faculty and staff accounts have been moved from the "old" email service to the cloud service. Although a majority of campus users are satisfied with the features and functionality, approximately 20% of user accounts had a less than satisfactory experience.

Late for class yet you still need to print a paper? Are the computer labs full? Many of us have gone through that nightmare before. A new pay-as-you-go printing service is piloting at the University of Arizona campus and it could save time for thousands of students and faculty. It’s called WEPA, which stands for Wireless Everywhere Print Anywhere.
